Shopping

Most women love to go shopping – especially for clothes. Right? When Robert and I were in Indiana last month, we were visiting his cousin, Mary and her husband. Mary’s sister, Laura and her husband were there as well. The two sisters were talking about shopping – shopping for dresses. I was sitting and listening.

Finally, I piped up, “I don’t like shopping for clothes – especially for dresses. In fact, I dislike it so much; I never go shopping for dresses. I can’t even remember the last time I bought a dress for myself.”

The two ladies looked at me in disbelief. “So what do you about clothes then?” they asked.

“Well”, I said; “The Lord knows what I need and He brings it to my door. That is so much easier than me going out looking for it.”

Two days later, when my friend, Marilyn picked me up for lunch, she handed me a bag saying, “I don’t know if you can use this dress, but I brought it for you.”

I grinned, “Thank you. I just told Robert’s cousins two days ago that God knows what kind of dresses I need and He brings them to me. He must think I need this one.”

I’ve worn that dress to church twice since returning home from Indiana and both times I received nice comments from people. The Lord knows what I need. “But if God so clothes the grass of the field…will He not much more clothe you?” (Mat 6:30 NRSV)
