Hi from Waxhaw

This week I’m at the JAARS center in Waxhaw, NC for a week-long computer technical conference. There are around 260 delegates at this conference from all over the world – mostly SIL/Wycliffe people involved in some way with computers/software development in Bible Translation. There are reports of how computers are being used in Bible translation in the field, presentations of new software being developed, and discussions about future strategies in using computers to get a Bible translation project started in every one of the remaining 3000 languages before the year 2025. Of course, every day we start with prayer realizing that without supernatural intervention our mission is impossible.

I personally will be presenting the Checklists tool that I’ve developed on Thursday afternoon. This is part of a Scripture Checking software package. The Checklists tool reads in many different types of control files and then finds the specific vernacular scripture on the user’s hard drive and presents it in a way that the user can check how accurately it has been translated. It’s actually more complicated than this, but it’s hard to describe. Maybe I could demo it for you sometime.
