Family News

The big news is that on Aug 4th after nine years, Jeremy was released from prison - paroled to San Diego County. The prison gave him $200, dropped him off at a bus station near Sacramento, and told him to report to the Parole Office in Escondido the following morning at 10 o’clock. There were no plans in place for his room and board or employment or schooling.

When we got the message that he was on a bus in California, we were alarmed. Not knowing what to do, we asked church and co-workers to pray. Finally, we decided to drive out to California, leaving at 1am on Thursday morning. It’s a 1400 mile trip and we arrived in Escondido 24 hours later. What a reunion we had at the Motel 6! When we caught up with Jeremy, he had already been forced to spend one night on the street because he had no money.

  • We paid his room and board at a Half-way house recommended by his Parole Officer.
  • We took him shopping for clothes and other essentials.
  • We got him a cell phone so that we could stay in touch with him.
  • We showed him how to use the email account Jason set up for him.
  • We took him to church and got him plugged into a Celebrate Recovery group.

After five days of encouraging him, we left for Manitoba, Canada, a previously planned trip. Since then, Jeremy has attended church every Sunday. He has enrolled in Palomar Community College. There is very little work in San Diego County, so he has applied for student aid and food stamps; we continue to pay his rent. We are in constant communication with him and he is doing very well. We praise the Lord for this. Please pray for provision for him - spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
