Robert’s work
Robert keeps plugging away on the Exegetical Summary for the book of Galatians. Currently, he is on verse sixteen of Chapter two of Galatians. Recently, the first five books of the Bible Background Series of which he is the editor, was published on CD-ROM. Praise the Lord with us for this milestone and pray that it will be useful in helping indigenous people understand the culture and lifestyle in Bible times.
Teaching at Michigan State University
This summer, Robert accompanied Verna to Michigan State University where Verna taught a class on Lexicography and Semantics for three weeks. We lived in the dorm on campus. Robert continued his work with a laptop computer and his box of books in the dorm. Verna enjoyed teaching PhD candidates and professors, helping them set up bilingual dictionary projects. She gave each of her students an A for their effort in the course.
Verna’s work
Although Verna is studying part-time, she still keeps very busy with software development and consultation for Bible translators. Even while Verna was in Michigan, she received daily emails requesting her help in software installation coding. This required her to make changes to the software code, recompile the program and send it back to the Language Software Department in Dallas by email.
Time in Indiana
We were privileged to be able to share in one of our supporting churches in Indiana about our work in Bible translation in conjunction with our trip to Michigan. We also spent quality family time with Robert’s mother who celebrated her 89th birthday in the Nursing Home and with several of Robert’s brother and sisters.
Jeremy remains in isolation
Jeremy has been in an isolation cell for more than four months now. His letters indicate that he spends most of his time reading his Bible, since he has nothing else to do. You may write to him at: Jeremy Ryan Stutzman T-51849, C.S.P. C6-127L, P.O. Box 901, Imperial, CA 92251 USA, USA. Please continue to pray that he will be transferred back to Donovan Prison in San Diego (a much safer prison).
Verna’s study program
Verna has begun her second year in the Master of Arts Counseling program at Dallas Baptist University toward becoming a Counselor with Wycliffe. Thank you for your prayers and your financial support toward her tuition costs. If you would like to contribute financially toward her study program, please mark your gift for Verna’s scholarship fund.
